I've used Studio Tax for a few years and have always accepted income split after using the optimizer.

It says I get a refund and spouse has to pay $3200.

is there a way to transfer less to spouse and bring the payment to less than $3000 to avoid instalments for 2026? And for me to get a lesser refund. Every time I adjust the amount to be less....the refund/owe amounts don't change ... then I run the optimizer and am back at where I don't want to be.

So how can I adjust, not run optimizer and see a change on the refund/amount owed?

Thanks.

Ok got it!!

Run the optimizer on income.

Go to Form 1032

Line 22 cannot exceed line 21

Adjust line 22 accordingly.

Then save file

Pay $22 more in taxes but avoid going onto instalments.
