OfflineIt looks like CRA removed option to pay instalments through internet banking.
I see only pre-authorized payment (once or recurrent), pay at Canada Post (fee might apply) and VISA debit (fee might apply).
They do mention PayPal but again fee might apply.
Few years ago I did pay instalment but through my bank as 'bill payment' and that 'bill' is still there.
Should I call CRA to confirm if I can still pay through internet banking or just to provide banking info to CRA so they do withdrawal?
Anybody pays instalments?
P.S. And of course CRA 'chat bot' is so stupid and limited and you cannot reach agent. At least I did not find an option to do that...

I received my instalment reminder via e-mail today. Went into my CRA account to see what the Sept/Dec quarterly payments would be. I then paid the September 15th quarterly today through CIBC "bill payments" as I always do.
I don't know why, but I always make the payments a month ahead.

OfflineAs of June 30, 2025, CRA still allowed payment via Bill Payment through one's bank. No indication to my knowledge of a change. It may be the bank that has discontinued this option rather than CRA itself.
I am not concerned since I have it set up as a pre-authorized debit to my account. CRA draws it automatically.

Where do you see that you can't pay instalments anymore through internet banking?
Available payment options
This service offers the following payment options:
Pay by Visa® Debit, or Debit MasterCard®
Make a payment directly to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) using your bank access card
Schedule a single payment from a Canadian chequing account starting in 5 or more business days Schedule a future payment to authorize the CRA to withdraw the amount from your Canadian chequing account
Schedule a series of payments from a Canadian chequing account starting in 5 or more business days Schedule future payments to authorize the CRA to withdraw set amounts from your Canadian chequing account
Pay in person at Canada Post
Generate a QR code to bring to any Canada Post outlet (Third party service provider fees apply)
You cannot use credit cards with this service. For credit card payment options, go to Pay by credit or debit card, or PayPal.
The whole CRA site is confusing; you have to go from page to page to figure out what you can and cannot do regarding payments. As per few above posts it looks like you can still 'manually' pay instalments. But probably it is less headache to make it preauthorized payment with CRA as if it fails (you do have money on account) it will not be your fault.

OfflineThat's probably about payments through some other methods.
CRA accepts payments through multiple methods:
- Bill payment through online banking.
- Bill payment through ATM.
- CRA's own My Payment service that can accept debit cards.
- Preauthorized debits set up through CRA's My Account.
- Payment through mailed in cheques.
- Payment through a bank teller with a remittance voucher.
- Payment through a Canada Post retail location.
- Payment through third-party service providers like TelPay.
- Payment through foreign wire transfer.
Use CRA's online wizard Payment options for the type of payment you are making to see the methods supported for a specific payment type.

OfflineI just received a letter from CRA today to pay instalments for 2025 tax year. I used to pay my mother in law’s, as a bill payment on her BMO account.
I made an error and paid her tax account and not the instalment one. Money came right back.
The letter is vague and uses the word “may” a few times. I really wonder if it’s monitored and is there a penalty, if you ignore?
Will check my Vancity account and get back to yo.

OfflineI am not sure what letter you are referring too but......
For those required to pay installments, CRA issues an 'Installment Reminder' in August (on this date - Aug 15th) for installments due Sept 15th and Dec 15th, and the amounts, using one of 3 methodologies. Payment is not optional without back interest being charged currently at 7%.
CRA will issue another one Feb 15th for amounts due Mar 15, 2026 and June 15, 2026.
Added: If you know your balance due for 2025 when you file is less than $3k, I don't believe you have to make any payment BUT I would not count on that. Installment payments are triggered when more than a $3k balance is due for 2 of the last 3 years.

So you are saying instalments cannot be paid through internet banking but only by what I mentioned above?
As this being a Reminder, WHY I did not get instalments amount notice after filing taxes????

OfflineYou don't get an Installment Payment reminder for 2025 until Aug 2025 because until CRA has finished with its assessments for 2024 (by the end of June 2025), they don't know whether you have triggered the Installment Payment methodology until after June.
Installment payments can be made using any of the methods noted by Norman1 in post #9, but I really do not know what you mean by Internet banking (undefined). The online choices are online banking via Bill Pay from your bank account, online via CRA MyAccount (debit not credit), pre-authorized debit set up with CRA, etc.

My official notice was today by email. Also was warned a few times this year that it might happen. The warnings were from the numerous CRA correspondences due to the HUBERT T4 screw up!!

Had pretty much the same options to pay my mother in laws trust account. I wasn't going to to travel to pay, wasn't going to open a bank account at a specifically listed as an approved FI, wasn't going to pay a fee, and wasn't going to apply for a Visa Debit or MasterCard Debit (<= that I would never use!!). We eventually got a draft and mailed it. What a PITA!!! But I see now that it looks like you can pay a Trust Account online at our CU.
BAD options CRA!!! But looks like you modernized this year!! lol 🙂

My underline...... You don't do your transactional banking with any of the 18+ banks that have the CRA online Bill Pay option?
Click in item 1 in this link to see the full list (albeit out of date - 2024) https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/pay-online-banking.html
I would think (but not sure) you should still be able to go into your actual CRA MyAccount and pay that way with a FI debit card from any FI just like you would at a retail POS terminal.....

OfflineI was referring to paying graduated rate estate account. As per the list on CRA, at the time, there was only one bank listed that would accept a trust account payment. Neither BMO or Vancity had the payee option to pay.
I can’t see the old options, but you will see trust payments are new. 🙂

And at the time….. no option to pay within CRA. I was thorough in checking out the payment options. 🙂

My apologies. I had overlooked your 'trust account' statement.
I suspect most trusts issue T3s passing through the income to beneficiaries albeit I understand with somewhat complicated disproportionate allocations to beneficiaries, it is easier for the trust to pay income taxes.

OfflineNot all of the CRA bill payees are available through personal online banking.
Some financial institutions will offer the CRA bill payees for business taxes and trust taxes through the online banking for business banking only. So, one won't be able to pay corporate taxes or trust taxes online from a personal bank account.
For example, Manulife Bank only offers these CRA bill payees for online bill payment through personal online banking:
- CRA Canada Emergency Benefit Repayment
- CRA Past Tax Owed
- CRA Revenue 2024 Tax Return
- CRA Revenue Benefits and Credits
- CRA Tax Installment
One can still pay corporate taxes or trust taxes in person at any chartered Canadian bank. Bank Act 627.26(1) requires Canadian banks to accept such Receiver General deposits for free.
One needs to provide the teller a remittance voucher for the corporate or trust tax payment with the payment. See Pay at the counter (teller) at a bank or credit union.

Offline@BILL it’s just newly offered will see when we do her last income tax.
@AltaRed taxes are paid from our personal funds then reimbursed from the estate. I assume when making the payment online through Vancity that the payee ID will be the graduated rate estate trust account number rather than the deceased SIN number. Or what ever shows on the tax return. I believe it will be the Trust account number.
And the one T3 we expect for $800 will cost about $450 to process it minus any taxes. Sloppy clearing company that the advisor uses.
