Why has scrivens not been mentioned here as their offer of GIC’s is top notch with 5 yr GIC RSP at 3.25%. Also non Reg over 3.3%

I do know that both Wealth One Bank and Haventree Bank were offering 5 year GICs @ 3.35% through brokers. I don't know anything about the latest offering of a "whopping" .01% increase to 3.36%.

GIC's are always insured under the jurisdiction in which the FI operates, so GIC's issued by either CDIC or in the case of CU's, the applicable provincial body (eg. FSRA in Ontario)

GICs are insured, but only up to limits with which you should familiarize yourself with.
