QuintEssential Credit Union has GIC specials at rates that are not that bad. My cousin lives in Belleville and told me about this and he put some money into GIC's at 2.80%.

There are 2.40%, 33 month GIC's and 2.80% 5 year GIC's. They are eligible for RRSP's, RRIF's and TFSA's but no RESP's are offered.

Their minimums are $1,000 which is comparable to Oaken Financial. I don't know if people outside of Ontario can have access to these GIC rates, http://www.qcu.ca/Business/Rat...../Specials/.
