My jury is out on whether bigger is necessarily better for CUs. Little Talka in Hamilton offers some of the best rates going and they are more stable than most.   

I've been retired for twenty years (early retirement) so we may be of a similar vintage...

Agreed that bigger may not necessarily be better, also pointing to other CU's like Resurrection and Parama that currently offer the highest rates..though I have not dealt with either.

My local Meridian branch that opened last year apparently recruited several of its senior employees from Scotiabank. Not unusual in industry to hire a little fish in a big pond to become a big fish in a little pond..
