I don't know who the FI is.
It won't be available very long.
They also have 1 year at 2.85% and 2 years at 3.15%, both with minimum of 25K.

For someone looking for a longer term GIC, the current promo at Meridian for a 5 year GIC at 3.5% (minimum $100) (new money) may be a another alternative.
Currently the highest 5 year rate, I believe.
As has been also proposed, parking money at Meridian at their current promo of 3% for four months (new accts) may be a way to hedge the bet for possible rate increases in the coming months, by remaining liquid and ready to take advantage of an opportunity.

True; but if four years (or two) is what you need, then this may be your best bet.
Good for someone who is starting a ladder or whose ladder got derailed for some reason or who knows they will need the money in that many years or for whom five years is just too long.
