There are many reasons why kidneys may fail. If it were just water etc., then everyone would be in same boat there.
Is she getting dialysis? That would be the first lifeline in a "normal" situation.
(At one time I had some expertise in this subject - over 40 years ago, so very out of date.)

Yes she is getting Dialysis. It is so ironic how things work there. In the morning they messaged that doctor says it is not really working and the transplant needs to be done ASAP. Then they take her to another (more expensive but better what they say) doctor who said the medications might work to avoid transplant.
Also they ran tests and one of her sisters is a match and can donate in case. Waiting to see what is going to happen.
I assume it was way more challenging to deal with this 40 years ago (Or I might be wrong).
