I went to all the trouble of registering for this forum because I don't see any mention of this. They are a division of Canadian Western Bank. Opening an account online was easy (but not too easy) for 2 name joint accounts and additional names can be added later by postal mail. Unlike Laurentian 3.3% offer account which is for single name only accounts (you can't add second or third names later). I was a bit leary about the Laurentian offer because the account was too easy to open online. I'm a bit worried about security.

My concern with Canadian Western bank is that they are based in Alberta which currently is economically depressed so how safe is your money?

Deposits are CDIC-insured but I wouldn't want to be in over the limit
