Invest in Brazil?

I surf xe.com a lot.

"Invest in Brazilian Agriculture" banner ads have been bombarding the site lately.

With claims like 8% -- 12% interest per annum I'm tempted to look into this further.

Here's my question -- and I'm a virgin investor so go easy -- this type of investment would never guarantee your principal, right?

So if I chuck 25 grand into Brazilian agriculture and it turns out to be a Ponzi scheme, then too bad, right?

It's not like the CDIC has your back in those circumstances, right?

Thanks for any responses.
