.
Bout Time❗

I'm guessing EQ's 30 Day Notice account wasn't attracting much attention, after they lowered its rate to 2.50% a while ago.

But I still won't bite, cuz I continue to get 2.80% at Oaken's No-Notice SA. sf-smile

Same rate as the direct deposit bonus now... so I would have moved funds to the notice account and opened up a PC money account for their DD bonus, but there is no point now since they will be one and the same soon.

Why would one wait 30 days for a withdrawal and get 2.75% when Oaken Financial offers 2,80% with no wait ?

To get a rate guaranteed in a falling-rate market?

Notice 30 days could be for someone who already has account with EQ, has predictable cash outflow, does not have account with Oaken and does not want to jump through the hoops of opening Oaken account just to get extra 0.05% interest.

    True ⬆️, but . . .

Oaken's HISA is just 'The Tip Of The Iceberg' there, with Many other very compelling reasons to have an account with them.

Personally ... I couldn't imagine Not having an account at Oaken

And if the rate changes, you're stuck with it for 30 days as well.

I wonder how long Oaken will stay at 2.8%, they are probably getting strong inflows at the moment.

Exactly why I no longer bother with EQ.

Another reason not yet mentioned for EQ is having used up the CDIC limit elsewhere, like Oaken, and having a personal rule to stay within those limits. I haven't used this notice account yet because I use laddered 1 year GICs instead, and also NOT ANY GICs at EQ because, unbelievably after all these years of suggestions and bad press, they STILL don't have joint account GICs !!

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as

We've been on TNG promos almost continuously between my spouse and I for about 3 years but with TNG moving to low tiered rates, we're going to use EQ's joint Personal Account (not Notice Accounts) with RIF deposits to trigger the 2.75%. Like you, we use Oaken (Bank and Trust) for Joint GIC ladders

One of the best things about Oaken is that I could open two TFSA accounts, one with Home Bank and one with Home Trust for double CDIC coverage. I split my money between them, so I don’t have to worry about going over coverage limit anytime soon.
