OfflineApparently today the offer is for 4.60%:
https://www.cibc.com/en/specia.....LZEALw_wcB
From the 'Terms and Conditions':
The Offer is available to individuals who: (i) have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence, and (ii) as of the date the Eligible eSA is opened, are not a holder or have not held (either jointly or individually) a CIBC eAdvantage Savings Account, as determined by CIBC on the basis of its official records.
Does anybody know what this actually means? If I had a savings account (eAdvantage or some other type) with CIBC more than 5 years ago, do I qualify for this promo?

I think it means what it says. Maybe you get lucky and slip through without them noticing.

OfflineThe problem is that I do not know if I have ever had a 'CIBC eAdvantage Savings Account'. I certainly had a savings account with CIBC, more than 5 years ago. Maybe eSavings, or whatever they called it back then. It is too risky to open a new account, transfer funds and then discover in March that I am not getting the promotion.
Do they show the actual rate when you log into your account? For instance, Manulife does it, RBC does not do it.

OfflineOnly a previous CIBC eAdvantage Savings Account would disqualify one for the 4.60% offer.
CIBC used to offer other savings accounts that were not eAdvantage Savings Accounts:
- CIBC Bonus Savings Account
- CIBC Chequing Savings Account
- CIBC Daily Interest Savings Account
- CIBC Premium Growth Account
- CIBC Regular Savings Account
Those would not affect one's eligibility for the offer.

OfflineNew CIBC 4.8%.
Received an e-mail from my CSR rep yesterday offering 4.8% for 90 days on new funds deposited into my existing e-Advantage Savings account. This offer is for funds deposited on or before 27 March 2026.
I've asked him to clarify some things so expect another e-mail or phone call from him.

Do you know if the 4.80% is "across the board" or only the top rate on the top level of the deposit (tiered structure a.k.a. graduated rate)?

OnlineTargeted offer I think
*For new funds deposited into existing eAdvantage Savings Accounts with balances above $100,000 on or before March 27, 2026, earn a total interest rate of 4.80% (which is made up of the 0.60% posted interest rate plus a 4.20% bonus interest rate) for 90 days following the date of deposit. For new funds deposited into existing eAdvantage Savings Accounts with balances equal to or below $100,000 on or before March 27, 2026, earn a total interest rate of 4.50% (which is made up of the 0.30% posted interest rate plus a 4.20% bonus interest rate) for 90 days following the date of deposit. Interest is calculated daily on each day’s full closing balance and paid monthly to the eAdvantage Savings Account. For deposits received after March 27, 2026, only regular interest will continue to apply.

So I had some extra funds and deposited them via cheque directly into my CIBC e-advantage acc't on Saturday. Went to the teller to see if the bonus interest was attached to that account. She said it wasn't. So when I got home I e-mailed my CSR to ask if I would be receiving this interest. He got back that he will put in the request to give me the 4.5% (i.e. 4.2% plus .3% posted interest) and that it would take 48 hours approx to show in account. Apparently, even though I got the targeted offer from him, I would have to get back to him and "accept" the offer. There was no "accept offer button" on the initial e-mail. I messaged back to clarify the deposit on Saturday would receive the offer and not just any funds deposited after the 48 hours. Also, don't think if you deposit into chequing account then transfer to e-advantage account that the special offer would apply. Currently any transfers from say my Tangerine, Oaken, Wealth one etc into CIBC are set up to be deposited into CIBC chequing.

Onlinein my case I went into branch and saw my advisor first,
he took photocopy of bank draft, and advised he would do whatever he had to do to activate the offer.
He then told me to go to teller and deposit bank draft.
That was Friday.
Now Tuesday, 1st attempt for chat online , stated they do not see an offer.
2nd attempt for chat online, different person, they stated they say they see notation that there is an offer, but no details available.
I emailed my advisor asking for confirmation and his response was,
"Offer for 4.8% is approved, will take some time to reflect the start/end date, will update soon.
The offer has a balance cap of $2,000,000."
I don't like the way they are not being clear about this transaction.
I hope the interest rate is effective the day I deposited funds. I am a bit worried.
