In a confirmation email:

As requested, this email confirms you're signed up for the Simplii Financial™ Savings Account offer. You'll earn 1.50% on eligible new deposits until October 31, 2021.

I am an existing account holder.

Might be targeted.

Edit by admin: there is also a new client offer being discussed in this other thread

No offer for me.

1.50% is lower than the 2% I'm getting at Manulife Bank.

Please clarify how this offer became available, and where to look online to see if it exists.

No that's for the other thread. I was referring to this existing client situation, which the OP was.

I'm interested as well; my wife and I have always received email invites to these types of promos for years ... and generally participated.

Nothing received so far, for existing customers, as regards a 1.5% promo through Oct 31st ?

Same here. To paraphrase the "Soup Nazi": "No promo for you, next."

I got a couple of offers from them for a credit card and a mortage.

And then I requested a confirmation email as I had no record of it.

Why.... seriously why even attempt this promo?

1. only a few months
2. only at 1.5%
3. usual dollar limit
4. always a risk they say you were not really registered (happened to me once)

Canadian Tire gives you 1.55% without any of the above issues

Give me at least 2% and I MAY consider it

I'd be serious, as a secondary place to go with HISA funds 😉

Because: 3 1/2 months, guaranteed rate, already topped up at CT (ie; maxed out just below CDIC limit, hesitant to go over it) and if they drop, a pre-arranged place to transfer to.

Alas, no e-mail for me, Tang has avoided me too, not that they have anything. sf-cry

well one has to be realistic. No one will give u 2% unless its a new account perk. Otherwise they save you time as you dont have to even consider it as its not there 🙂

Actually, most "normal" institutions are willing to offer a better deal to their "high value" clients.

I tend to disagree. These day "high value" clients are "new" clients only. Be it FI, telco, any business that has a membership program...

I tend to agree with savemore. Many times, I have gone to my traditional bank (BNS, TD, CIBC) asking them to match a rate I found with HSBC, Tang, or someone else. I have never gotten a matching offer. My family has been with the big five for 50 years and have decent assets with them.
