I too agree that ICICI Canada’s front-end is logically laid-out and intuitive. I do have one complaint though, and this applies if you have more than one account with ICICI. In the “from account” and “to account” drop-down boxes, only the account numbers are displayed. If you haven’t memorized which acocunt number is attached to which account, you may end up transferring money into and out of the wrong accounts. This is particularly significant if you have an RSP Savings account and you mistakenly transfer funds into that account. You can’t get those funds back again without going through the hassle of sending ICICI a “letter of direction” (which they do not provide, you must draft your own) and paying the witholding taxes. Of course, ICICI could simply append a text description of the account to the acount number, but that would be too helpful, wouldn’t it? ;-p

  2. Craig says:

I don’t know if anyone at ICICI actually reads this blog, but the minor “complaint” I refer to above has actually been rectified. Now when you use the drop-down boxes, a full text-description appears beside the acocunt number (e.g. XXXXXXXX- HiSave Savings Account vs. XXXXXXXX – RSP Savings).

ICICI bank is a rouge bank and money is not safe int his bank. They can even tell lies after making a mess. My family and I have suffered immensely due to their neglect and incompetence

  4. Tom says:

I have heard a lot of negative views on banking with ICICI mostly around the quality of customer service received, read a very few positive comments.

The questions I have is how safe is the ones personal information with any of the foreign banks.

  5. Siddarth Mandela says:

They are a hopless bank. Thier banking methods are horrible even in India. Thier processes suck. I wish somebody take a big leap and sue them.

My experience with ICICI Bank Canada is not good, both at branch level as well as with contact centre. I did not find staff well-trained. They had a limited knowledge of the bank’s products, services, and policies. In my opinion, they continue to dwell on “We are a bank and we are right” mentality. I received a call from the bank’s so called “Customer Service Officer” after I emailed my complaint, and I was more dissapointed than ever. This guy had no idea why he called me, instead he asked me why I wanted a call from him.

In terms of staffing, it appears the bank has compromised for quantity to quality.

God bless this bank and K.V. Kamath’s (ICICI Bank’s CEO and MD)dream of an international universal bank.

Hi, I opened accoount in ICICI bank for my business and once expected incomming wire transfer. I received it after 8 days from when it has been sent. Trying to call to customer support…Hopeless…They have no clue what they are talking about…Most of the time their system in India was down..so they asked me to call back over and over again…STAY AWAY FRON THIS BANK!!!!!

ICICI sucks…i will close my account once my GICs got maturity, even if their rate is 0.5% higher than others. Their customer service is horrible.

  10. harry says:

Good luck to anyone trying to close their account. i called the customer service number and they ask you every question under the sun, putyou on hold multiple times and give you a reference #. but they never close the account…has been going on for over a year.
has anyone been successful in closing their account?

  11. Garry says:

Don’t get me started about ICIC — they are horific to deal with. I got looped into opening an account through their spam methods (yes, my fault) had a not so good experience opening the account and then problems when I wanted to move funds into a term. It took three calls, with three reference numbers to finally get my account closed…now the spam is coming again.

On a positive note, I opened an account with Achieva, which has been exceptional to deal with and great rates on all types of deposits.

  12. tellthetruth says:

ICICI should hire non-Indians for costumer service when dealing with costumers in countries of English language.

HOW HARD TO CAONTACT YOUR BRANCH. I HAVE CALLED THE ICICI BANK IN SURREY BC CANADA, ON PHONE 4 TIMES AND ALWAYS LEFT MASSAGE WITH HOPE THAT SOMEBODY WILL CONTACT ME. BUT ICICI BANK IN CANADA IS WORST THAN ANY OTHER BANK IN INDIA. I HAD AN ATTENTION TO OPEN A N ACCOUNT WITH THE BANK BUT I AM SCARED NOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I HAD A PROBLEM AS A CUSTOMER AND NO BODY IS THERE TO LISTEN YOU.
