So I phoned Transunion and it turns out their file on me has the wrong previous employment info. Now they want a letter from me and my drivers license and utility bill copy (to verify who I am) asking for their records to be corrected.

Seems like a lot of work for nothing, I don't care about my credit score as I'll never need credit in my life. Anyone know if there's any downside to just forgetting the whole thing and leaving my incorrect employment history as is with Transunion?

They also ask for two documents from executor to confirm identity when executor notifies them that the person should now be flagged as deceased in the credit record.

It is good to correct the bad info. As you found out, the Equifax and TransUnion records are now used to verify identity. You'll fail to verify if, based on that info, you can't correctly name the city of one of those employers!

Mistakes can happen updating credit records. One is that the file of someone else with a similar name and details was merged with yours.

So recently I created a Tangerine RIFF GIC from a existing matured Tangerine RRSP I had. In summary what a terrible decision. Be vary weary about creating a RIFF GIC with Tangerine bank (for retirement income purposes). RiFF GICS at this bank are very limted in being able to withdraw money according to my discussions with Tangerine customer service over this last week. I needed recently to withdraw a $1000 dollars of my RIFF GIC I recently created as I needed some of the funds to pay for bills etc. My first call to customer service after waiting for a callback I was eventually transferred to technical services and waited a whole hour for some one to pick up the call and I eventually hung up to try another day frustrated. The next day I chatted with customer service again with another lady who seem to be telling me I already had withdraws from my account and I just opened it (there were no withdraws at all). She wanted me to log into my online account and being on the phone with her could not loging in without hanging up (2 factor auth) and she would not let me call her back and gave me no flexbility seem to be just playing game with me etc. I gave up on her and hung up to call yet another day. Ok the third time I called customer service again and I told him I need to withdraw some money from my RIFF gic and he no problem. But then he comes back after talking with his supervisor and putting me on for 15 min and tells me they will need to withdraw the entire gic (just take some money of it out) and I would lose all accumlated interest up to that point. Huh??? To note I have other RIFF gics in other banks and never had a issue withdrawing some of my money from my RIFF GIC of course there are withholding taxes but no big deal. They tell me just to do a small withdraw I they have to kill my whole GIC and accumulated interest just for that for real. This is just terrible and then what is the purpose of having a RIFF income based GIC with them if you cannot actually use it for that purpose? Keep this in mind if you are looking at getting a RIFF GIC with this bank go to a bank like Hubert (now Access financial) instead where you can pull part of your money out when you want at whatever frequency from the GIC anytime with no issues...this is just crazy and never seen this before at any other bank. Also yes as some others have said in another forum topic the customer service at Tangerine is just terrible now they have really gone downhill...I wasted hours and hours. At other banks like Access Financial this is like a 10 min conversation and it done. Just giving you all a heads up!

Weird.

In my case, there were 4 or 5 questions. Each was multiple choice with 4 or 5 choices, one correct and others not. It all went thru smoothly.

I believe that this is still the case. I recently created a second savings account to create separate silos, and now I have these close account icons on both my savings account, but not on my singular chequing account or singular LOC account.

I thought there was some sort of "cut-off"-- i.e., greater than x dollars, you had to wait the 30 minutes. The small ones always seem to go through right away>

Someone in a city I'd lived in 35 years earlier tried to open accounts with an address and other data unfounded in reality. They cleaned it up eventually.

Tangerine always gives this message - even if the phone is then answered immediately - to discourage callers from calling. They are not the only ones who do.

Some companies, as Hewlett-Packard tried - impose a minimum wait time on EVERY call for the same reason, even if employees are sitting on their asses or playing solitaire.

On the "yeah!" side of things, BEEM (which has taken over BlueShore) has a system that actually tells you how many calls are ahead of you, and updates that with every call they clear. Much more entertaining than dreadful music and commercials. Today I actually got through instantly. On a Saturday, mind you!

Recently I transferred $700 via Interac e-transfer and the money was there instantly (I was surprised). Wonder if the wait time would be 30 minutes for 3000$. Anyone?

Yes, I sent $3,000 from Tangerine to RBC yesterday via Interac, initiated on Tangerine's website. 30 minute delay from when initiated to when I received email notification (I was the recipient as well). WS is almost instananeous for the maximum Interac transfer amount of $25,000, as is RBC for it's $10,000 limit through it's mobile app.

Instead, it should say: «we don't care much for customer service; wait time is increased because we do not have the personnel to answer your needs promptly.»
