Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I received the same email as well. I guess this is Tangerine's new way of doing business? So maybe they're eliminating the promotional interest rate offers all-together and going with this new 'Tiered' approach which is based on the amount of funds you have in your Tangerine Savings Account.

No, like Monopoly you have the pleasure of being sentenced and banished for a predetermined amount of time. "Go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200" . Once your sentence has been served you'll be eligible for the Tangerine Lottery once more. In the meantime you'll get the lower tiered rates.

Hi,

My 4.25% promotional interest rate offer with Tangerine ran out yesterday (Friday July 31, 2026). So I never transferred the funds I have in my Tangerine Savings Account over to my Tangerine Chequing Account before the end of July and I noticed today that Tangerine is now giving me 2.50% on my Savings Account.

My question is should I move the funds I have in my Tangerine Savings Account over to my Tangerine Chequing Account in hopes that Tangerine will offer me a more favorable promotional interest rate in say September or should I just leave it alone and continue earning the 2.50% interest rate?

Any thoughts/suggestion would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
TD

For these reasons I do empty all my Tangerine non registered accounts just before promo ends.

I have not had a promotional rate from Tangerine since September 2025. My strategy was to always take my money out a few days before (in $25,000 increments, the maximum allowed by Tangerine) the promo period ended. Sometimes I got a new offer a few days later but the last few times it was between 7 and 14 days. Now I just park my money with Wealth One Bank of Canada and get the best non-promo rate of 3% (I have balances >$25,000) and pay no fees. Just note that when you deposit money with W1, it can take up to 7 business days for the money to be released. In my experience it usually is around 4 business days. Withdrawing money from W1 (pushing from W1) usually takes 1 to 2 business days for it to be deposited into another bank (e.g. Simplii Financial).

Is anyone else currently on the 4.25% Tangerine promotional interest rate offer which runs out after today (Friday July 31, 2026)? I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten an extension to this offer or have any other suggested promotional interest rate offers similar to this one at other Financial Institutions? Also, should I move my funds out to my Tangerine Chequing Account before the end of the day in hopes of received another promotional interest rate offer from Tangerine?

No extension, had there been one we would have known about it. It's been a long time since they've done extensions. The typical pattern when a Tangerine promo ends is that you'll typically get another offer after a lull of a month, so September. I would wait until tomorrow, then move your funds into the chequing account, might as well squeeze another day out of the promotional interest. Snapshots don't typically occur until at least a few days into the month.
