I just noticed this on Simplii site when you want to link an external acct - maybe it was there before but I had not noticed it previously. YIKES! so much info being shared over internet!

Flinks collects the following data:
External financial institution (“FI”) online banking credentials (user ID and password)
External FI name
Your name
Your home address
Your phone number
Your email
External FI account number
External FI transit number
External FI account balance
External FI account transaction history
EFT payment amount
EFT payment date
Other information that may be required to authenticate you

WOW... how comfortable some get with the idea of sharing ALL your transactional information with a FI that only needs to validate you.... because it is ok to have them know your balance and history? No Thanks.

That kind of information is definitely not shared with the Interac e-Transfer recipient or the merchant accepting the credit card.

† This special interest rate offer is available starting on March 4, 2026 and ending on May 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm UTC (the “Offer Period”), by invitation only, to primary account holders of a Simplii Financial™ High Interest Savings Account opened before the Offer Period (an “Eligible HISA”). Account holders must enroll their Eligible HISAs in the offer through online banking or by contacting Simplii Financial.

The special annual interest rate of 3.00% is a combination of regular annual interest rate (“Regular Interest”) and promotional annual interest rate (“Promotional Interest”) set by Simplii Financial. Any change to the Regular Interest will result in a corresponding change to the Promotional Interest so that the overall special annual interest rate will remain 3.00% from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period.

Regular Interest is calculated daily at the current rate applicable to the Eligible HISA balance on each day’s full closing balance. Promotional Interest is calculated daily on each day's closing balance that exceeds the closing balance as at March 2, 2026 (the “Additional Balance”) up to a maximum balance limit of $1,000,000. Eligible HISAs will earn Promotional Interest from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period. Regular Interest and Promotional Interest are paid monthly. For clarity, Promotional Interest is paid within the first two business days following the month in which it was calculated. Promotional Interest will only be paid if the enrolled Eligible HISA is active and in good standing at the time of payment. After the Offer Period, all balances will continue to earn interest at the Regular Interest rate only. For the current regular interest rates, visit our rates page.

This offer is non-transferable and cannot be combined with other promotional rate offers. This offer may be withdrawn, cancelled, or changed without notice, at any time, for any reason. Promotional and regular interest rates are subject to change without notice. Other conditions apply. For the full terms and conditions, review the Simplii Financial March 4, 2026 to May 31, 2026 Promotional Savings Rate Offer 3.00% for Existing HISAs terms and conditions (PDF, 100 KB).
