Yes that was the survey I got and tried to respond saying they were going entirely the wrong way. Its already too confusing for the general public they are trying to attract, ie; Oaken Financial, Home Bank, Fairstone Bank, Home Trust. It just makes them appear smaller, not known and 'weaker'.

Branding success almost always is about narrowing the focus on one thing only, not the opposite. Examples are many. If you deal at CIBC you might also be with CIBC Investors Edge, CIBC Wood Gundy, CIBC Capital Markets. If you deal at Bank of Montreal, you can be dealing with BMO, BMO InvestorLine, BMO Nesbitt Burns and so on.

On the positive side, at least they are attempting to get customer input into branding changes. Most banks just do what they decide and then make up 'corporate speak marketing' announcements to say how wonderful they are.

Sure thing and it's a big one.....in these days, how can a bank send an unsolicited e-mail and expect anyone to actually click on a link in that e-mail? Instead they should encourage customers to sign in to their account, and tell them where to find the contest entry there. Tangerine did the same thing recently too! Potential danger.
