I have one of my GICs maturing at the beginning of April. What is the best way to withdraw the funds? I have a progress account. Can I link my Wealthsimple account with it and pull the funds free of charge, or what are my options? Thanks.

Add a link to the external account from the National Bank investment account holding the GIC's. Ask National Bank to then direct deposit the GIC interest and maturing GIC principal to the external account. See previous post.

I have successfully linked WS with NB Progress account. Will pull funds when GIC matures.

I'm in the same situation where I have numerous GICs maturing throughout 2026. I've simply linked my Progress Account to an account in another FI (in my case, Saven) and pulled the funds out. Everything went smoothly, no problems at all and no extra fees or service charges.

If you aren't happy with NB, you should set up an account with WealthOne Bank of Canada.
It is currently paying 2.6% and its savings account allows you to transfer funds to your accounts at other FIs seamlessly, pay bills, and do scheduled bill payments and scheduled transfers

Pay some bills yes but not 2025 CRA income tax owed. Strange one.

One thing people are missing 🙂 is Canadian Western Bank had a lot of CWB envelopes left so National Bank is using up their envelopes with a faded extra stamped address in black saying "National Bank of Canada on it"

Canadian Western Bank ceased to exist sometime in March last year when it and National Bank of Canada amalgamated.

The T5 slip (more accurately, the info in the slip) was actually uploaded to CRA by National Bank of Canada.

I've reviewed the files NETFILE software uploads to CRA for my returns. As AltaRed described, the info of each individual slip is not uploaded.
