Thanks JohnnyCash for testing this out. I'm not out of the country or using a VPN. My device date and time are synced perfectly.

I tried on my tablet for the 22nd and it kept the date. You made me ponder about time and date though.

I use jshelter extension on Chrome but Manulife site is whitelisted. Perhaps the extension is interfering with the transfer and triggering something on Manulife's side. However, If my date was wrong on my device it shouldn't affect January 27 future date but indeed that was the case earlier.

Interestingly enough. I just added a future date for January 28 on my tablet and at this point it's showing the correct date.

I visited their mobile website, not the app and January 28 is also showing up correctly. This is truly bizarre.

Posting this for archival purposes and to see if others can reproduce.

On Jan 19, 2026, I set up a future‑dated external transfer from my Manulife Advantage account to an external FI (CIBC). It was a standard EFT “Money transfer” to a linked external account, not Interac.

I chose Wednesday, January 21, 2026 as the transfer date (a valid business day, not a holiday). I met the qualifying period of initiating the transfer at least one business day in advance.

The One‑time transfer screen clearly showed the date as January 21. 2026 when I clicked Next and confirmed.

After exiting and going to View scheduled transfers, the exact same transfer then showed with a date of January 22, 2026 – one business day later.

No warning, no error message, no “we changed your date” banner. The system simply shifted it to the next business day.

I repeated this with another test:

On Jan 19, I set a future‑dated external transfer for Wednesday, January 27, 2026.

After saving and reviewing the scheduled transfer, Manulife changed it to Thursday, January 28, 2026.

I deleted that one until I get clarity because I need the money to earn interest through the promo’s last day and then leave on the next business day.

Important context:

The onscreen note says: “Transfers to external accounts must be dated at least one business day in the future.” That condition is obviously met (I’m more than one business day out).

I am not talking about weekends or holidays. These are all weekday‑to‑weekday shifts (Wed → Thu).

In DMs, Manulife used weekend/Friday examples and not my provided weekday examples that completely ignore the behaviour above and never directly addressed why a Wednesday external transfer is being pushed to Thursday.

This raises a few concerns:

– The UI leads you to believe the date you pick is the effective transfer/debit date, but the scheduled‑transfer view silently changes it after the fact.

– There is no clear documentation (that I can find) stating that external transfers are always executed one business day after the date you choose.

– For anyone timing promo exits or time‑sensitive payments, this could mean either losing a day of promo interest or having money leave later than planned.

Questions for the hive mind:

– Can anyone else reproduce this behaviour with external transfers from Manulife (pick a mid‑week business day and then check the scheduled‑transfer screen)?

– Has Manulife ever documented somewhere that the date you select for an external transfer is not the actual debit date, but just a “processing” date that gets moved out by one business day?

– If you’ve run into this and complained, did you get any coherent explanation in writing?

If this is intentional, it seems like a disclosure/UI problem; if it’s a bug, it’s a pretty nasty one for anyone trying to precisely time large movements around promos.

I think one would end up with more interest if one put in the full $500,000 in the first month and then withdraw the amount of the extra 3% interest (around $1,250) at the end of each month.

That would result in extra 3% interest paid on $500,000, on $498,750, and then on $497,500.

You are missing the point of this forum. We are all here to share information and to learn how best to deal with these FI's. Regarding this Manulife offer, if no interest is paid above $500k due to monthly interest earned, it is best invest no more than 492k-495k and put the remainder to work elsewhere.
