Are we sure it is the same T3 slip?

Perhaps, there are two T3 slips from the financial institution. CRA has received one of the two and taxpayer has the other of the two.

I've received T3 slips that have different amounts in the boxes than any of the ones CRA shows under My Account. That's because the T3 slip I received combines multiple T3 slips appearing under My Account.

Without knowing more, is it possible the CRA one with extra boxes filled, those extra boxes are meaningless to inputs in your tax software app?

It might be more helpful if you could disclose here which extra boxes are filled in the CRA version.

My most complicated (far ranging) T3 has 10 boxes income data in it, namely, Boxes 49, 50, 51, Box 21, Boxes 23, 32, 39 and Boxes 25, 34, 42. Nothing in Box 26 which is the only other obvious one that could have data in it.

Genutax has suited me well for years. My tax situation is straightforward with US and CDN pension income. It has a simple interview style. Donate what you like.

I also do US taxes. The IRS lost my paper return one year and it took two years to straighten it out. I've done the 1040 online since. PIck your poison.

Generally though I keep as little as possible online.

I even go a step further and keep as many data files as possible on a USB flash drive. It's made life easier when the computer goes in for repairs.

NokomisStation said

"March 11, 2026
I thought I might try the app this year but I already reported some quirks in this app. And trying to autofill from CRA is a joke. I have a spouse linked return. Tried several ways to use autofill. Why don't they put an icon to click on to go back to the app. All you get is a Bhok banner and message that you should go back to the app after exiting the CRA. The desktop version is best and now you have to pay the same for the app. As a long time user, I'm sticking with what works (windows)."

https://play.google.com/store/.....ndroid

I am using the desktop version. The auto fill is not good for me because some of my T'5's are still not listed on my CRA account so those T5's would not be entered in the software & I did not want to wait any longer to file. One quirk I found while using the Wizard is there was no question asking if tax instalments had been made. I sent off an email asking if maybe I had missed it & was told that question is not one of the Wizard questions so beware if you paid instalments last year or the first one this year.

I continue to use it and funny just pay for the license this morning !

for a relatively simple tax return with T3, T4 and T5 and some capital gain, it suits the purpose and I actually like the interface. I have tried a few others and they don't suit my eyes, I prefer to the "feels like the paper version" which is exactly what Mytaxexpress offers.

The other ones that guided you thru asking you hundreds of questions or set up like columns on a spreadsheet just hard to navigate and not user friendly, and I am very tech saavy !

Pay $13.99 for upto 10 returns, I am ok not insist to find a free version. Just the ability to not store my file return on a server somewhere is worth the money.

The UI is not great on a narrow phone screen. Need to scroll left and right repeatedly to see the full width of the T1 General return pages. I suspect that's why the mobile version is free!
