For sure, even Hubert agrees with that. But that isn't a make or break issue for moi and I'm not going to cry in my Corn Flakes over it. YMMV.

Their quarterly cashable 1-year GIC is still unique, and is a nice way to get a very competative 1-year rate with full cashability including any quarterly interest already paid if one has a change of mind. Works well as a 3/6/9 month short term GIC as well, where rates are often terrible elsewhere, and I still buy them on occasion, even though Oaken's near-death experience a few years ago has kept them up around the top of the rates and I've consolidated most of my GIC stuff there.

Thankfully, their Phone Customer Service is very pleasant and efficient. In fact, a few weeks ago I called to confirm maturity instructions on 4 GIC's and opened 2 new joint GIC's. Total duration of the call was 4m6s. I logged in 2 minutes later to see the 2 new GIC's live on our accounts.

I should add that my Hubert exposure is less than 25% of what it was pre-merger. All because of rates and limited DIY.

Their quarterly cashable 1-year GIC is still unique, and is a nice way to get a very competative 1-year rate with full cashability including any quarterly interest already paid if one has a change of mind.
I too thought something had gone wrong after finally getting in from the new landing page to my account and seeing no changes. Whether deliberately or through oversight, their announcement read to me as if the logged-in experience had be upgraded, when it was only the static website.

Also, and this pre-dated the new site, both from browser and iPhone app their online logins seem to take forever to load and log in, and will occasionally time out, or take on the order of minutes to complete. Hubert, even now, has perhaps the best customer service of any financial institution I deal with. Their online and IT side, however, may be the worst I deal with.

I do have links at TNG, OAK and EQB that allow me to move $ in and out of Hubert without Hubert CSR assistance. Then a 10 minute phone call with no wait is all I need to open a single or joint GIC. When the rates are competitive.

Although DIY GIC's would be better.

Why would anyone use Hubert with so many institutions who are "in the 21st century?" I gather this institution must be popular with an "older crowd" which has lots of time and likes using a landline to phone in for their services. I would use them for HISA and TDs if their rates were actually superior but their rates are not superior to what is available elsewhere.

To clarify ... Up until the Hubert/Access merger, the Hubert Online Banking site looked clunky but was very functional for the DIY enthusiast. Since the merger, we have severely restricted functionality with nice lipstick.
