Signed up for this promotion today and starting it on July 2nd after interest is paid to my account at Omnia Direct. Was getting 4.29% there but was expiring July 21st. It was pretty exhausting setting this up but eventually got it done with the great help of a young lady at their corporate office. They are actually going to pull the full amount from Omnia on the 2nd. Worth it to me, getting almost $29 a day interest for 4 month. Haven't been on here in awhile. I hope everyone is well. Cheers ☺️

The Fundserv database of all mutual funds includes a "MMF" flag (set true for ISAs) and a specific 'CDIC" flag for these. TDDI's systems could certainly have that information available at purchase time, they just don't want to put in the work to eliminate that message when not applicable, and rely on that "may" at the expense of possible customer confusion.

TDDI also has the concept of "near-cash" for its buying power calculation, and has to be able to determine if an ISA or MMF qualifies for that.

Both the Desjardins and General Bank ISAs are in Fundserv.

I think it is because they cannot be certain what the 'issuer' might impose from their side, so this is a disclosure to CYA. I have not heard of it being applied for ISA or MMF funds specifically.

TDDI has a problem with this as well - it puts up its inapplicable 90-day warning on ISA and MMF purchases, without even the exception disclaimer. It also doesn't show minimum initial and subsequent purchase amounts, even in the order rejection message if you don't meet them - you have to hunt down their research page for the fund. Integration of data sources could be improved at Big Green!

For info, as a Quebec resident using Disnat (Desjardins), I can confirm that ISA are not subject to the 32$ commission for being held less than 90 days.

I won't be tracking it to my chart.

Similarly, not interested in tracking General Bank of Canada's HISA (GBH100). Its 2.2% rate looks outstanding for a series A HISA. But, only available through Questrade that charges $9.95 for each mutual fund trade, no exceptions.
