It's not true that the FDIC-insured savings vanished. The Synpase bankruptcy trustee did find $500 of one woman's savings perfectly safe in a FDIC-insured account. Unfortunately, that's only $500 of the $282,153.87 she transferred into her Synapse-based account that the fintech Synpase owed her.

$100 million went missing from an online bank.
"Neobanks" promise higher rates and lower fees, but they exist in a regulatory black box created by Andreessen, Thiel, Musk and more.
We investigated an online bank where thousands of Americans' FDIC-insured savings vanished.

Warning(s)
Funds held less than 90 calendar days may be subject to a commission charge of $32 (except money market funds and high interest savings account products).

That's good. So, the rate is one that is actually achievable. That makes DJQ1000 useful to include in the chart.

Online banking platforms are available and I am enrolled in them if I want to use them for EFT. I happened to visit the local Comtech branch because it is close to home, for the experience. Also to make a personal contact with the manager, for possible future investment opportunities.

I prefer online access whenever possible, however.

Did Comtech/YNCU charge you a membership fee for buying this short term GIC?
If so how much? I presume one can buy it online if not a branch nearby.

They do the $5.00 share procedure which is a lot more favorable than some of the ethnic CU's like Ukrainian CU that charges $150? for a share and refunds only part on departure.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn they use a secure email system to send documents via email as opposed to some CU's and FI's who insist on using conventional email to transmit and / or receive sensitive information.

I will be keeping an optimistic eye on this one
