I setup a new account online and account was immediately setup and can be viewed online immediately. Online request the linked account and the 2 confirmation amount was sent to the outside FI after 2 biz days. So start to finish with linked account setup is like 3 biz days for me. Guess I am lucky. Use Latest version Google Chrome browser if it makes a difference.

Also did a linked transfer and it says may take upto 5 biz days. Certainly hope it does not take that long.

From what I've seen, a pull always takes at least five days to clear, from start. Push is shorter though - except in the case of Meridian/motus, where everything takes 6 or 7 business days unless you phone and beg successfully for action.

Based on some insightful commentary I've received from people who work in the biz, this is most likely a case of somebody transposing my surname with that of my wife many, many years ago. So I exist all right, but TransUnion effectively invented an alias for me that incorporates her last name instead of my own. Apparently I've been getting along all these years by virtue of everything else I've entered on credit applications matching 100%, e.g. DOB, SIN, etc.

That is not necessarily a mistake.

In many provinces, like Ontario and Manitoba, marriage does allow one to assume spouse's last name. One just needs to present ID with one's original name along with the provincial marriage certificate showing matching original name and the spouse's name.

Historically, it was the wife who did this. However, the option is also available to the husband.

Yes, if one provides date of birth and SIN, lenders are able to retrieve the correct credit bureau record in spite of mismatched, misspelled, or partial names. Unfortunately, the resulting record won't meet FINTRAC name verification requirements and the financial institution will have to use another method to verify name.

I get your point about marriage-related name changes but that's not operative here. I'll never know how or when for sure, but at some point my TransUnion file was altered to change my surname to that of my spouse without any input from me. And it probably had something to do with CapitalOne's reporting to the bureaus, because that's the only CC account we ever held where she was the primary and I was the secondary and a transposition opportunity potentially arose, even though the monthly statements always showed our names correctly.

Fortunately it hasn't thus far affected my ability to secure credit for the reasons you cite, i.e. that everything else matches. My current frustration however is that the error is preventing me from accessing any of the TransUnion fraud prevention tools offered me by CapitalOne because the only way to sign up for them is online. Meanwhile, the only way to get my credit file corrected is by mail or fax submission (and fax doesn't seem to work because of image clarity issues of ID) and then sit on my hands until they make the correction.

I submitted my ID to them on August 21 but as of this morning my file remains suspended and I haven't heard a thing back

I agree with Londonguy that these credit bureaus should not be taking it upon themselves to make major changes like changing your name and address based on one data point. As mentioned I had my address changed due to sharing a Costco card ( not a credit card ) with my parents.

Credit bureaus don't decide. They collect what lenders upload to them.

If a lender says they sufficiently verified the identity of and issued a credit card to "Snoopy Dog" who has your date of birth and SIN, then the credit card will be added to your credit record. The name on the record will then be updated to "Snoopy Dog"!

That is quite odd! If it was a data entry error, then the monthly statements would show your first name with your wife's surname.

Maybe Capital One had a bug with the software that generated the upload files to Trans Union Canada. The software extracted the primary holder's surname and used it for the surname of both the primary and secondary holders! No-one noticed for a time, because, long ago, the primary holder was usually the husband and the secondary holder, the wife, commonly assumed the husband's surname.

I submitted my ID to them on August 21 but as of this morning my file remains suspended and I haven't heard a thing back

I didn't see anything on Trans Union's site about their processing time for errors.

Equifax Canada: How to dispute information on your Equifax credit report says to allow 10 to 20 business days for Equifax Canada to investigate.

I read their union delayed their transition to online before their new contract in which negotiations were contentious. Laur has tried to decertify their union in the past. The only banking union in North America about a third of their staff unionized many in the branch network apparently.

The original 3.35/3.10% Manulife deal had a May15 deadline for signing up & is good for 6 mo. How did you conclude or manage that you have it or got it 'til Jan21. According to my calculations, the max good til date would be Nov13. Wassup??

Ditto. Mine also expires in early November. That's why I'm here, anticipating the need to find someplace to go to! Also I wonder if Manuife will extend a rate offer as there are competitors coming out of the woodwork now. sf-wink

Has anyone opened a joint account with B2B? How is that process?

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

Took the plunge ... opened an account, moved some money.

Web Site is quirky.
Also called and spoke to rep. Not the greatest.

Not a comfortable, confidence inspiring experience.

Will stick with it for now.

First deposit id do small amount like 100 bucks to test. Last thing u want is to send thousands and have it stuck in limbo. I doubt it but with this one id be cautious.

As I stated somewhere else in the Forum, we had a bad experience with these people (Laurentian Bank) a while back. It took forever to get our money after a GIC matured. We also had issues with interest payments along the way. We will not deal with them again. The customer service is horrible.

My experience was negative.
- the online application did not function
- customer service was poor - gave me incorrect information
I would not deal with them. Interest rate does not compensate for the other flaws.

I tried to sign up today, and when I got to the stage where Equifax verifies your identity, it said to answer the questions but no questions appeared. Refreshed the screen three times and nothing. Did anyone else experience this?

Have done a few pulls into B2B now and they all showed up the next day.

If a push from another FI is taking 3 days to show up, then that tardiness is on the remitting institution, not B2B

Yup! I had exactly the same experience.
Called the client agent and was told to wait 24 hours and retry. I did that - retried - it did not work. Called client service again (got a different person) and they said wait 72 hours which I did - it still did not work. I gave up after trying a few times with a different browser and even from another computer. The next agent said he thought all the malfunctioning issues of the online application process had been fixed. They do not do anything more but listen and say "we are so-o-o-o sorry you are having problems. Try again tomorrow." Enough other reliable HISA sites to use that I would forget this one. While the introductory interest rate for B2B may be attractive, it is not attractive to me with such a poor interface.

I think I was lucky.
I signed up with no problems 3 weeks ago about 2:30 a.m. local time. I figured there would be low traffic pinging the server. Equifax only took 2 minutes to verify. I had my most recent Equifax credit report on hand so answering the questions was easy.

I did large pull ($$$ xx,xxx.00) from B2B last week and funds appeared immediately in B2B after I waited 2 minutes, then refreshed. I got notification 20 minutes later from my other account that there was a large withdrawal. The 3.30% interest beats the sub-2.70% i was getting elsewhere. sf-cool
