The Scotiabank Gold American Express card is one of the five "Eligible Cards" in the fine print:

5 If you open an Ultimate Package account (the “Account”), on or after the date you open the Account (“Account Open Date”) you will receive an annual fee rebate of up to $150 on one Eligible Card that you hold as the primary cardholder (“Annual Fee Rebate”), for each year as long as you have one eligible Scotiabank Credit Card account (an “Eligible Card”) and the Account which are open and in good standing. … Eligible Cards are the Scotiabank Gold American Express®, Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite +*, Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite Privilege*, Scotia Momentum® Visa Infinite +* and Scotiabank Value® Visa* credit cards. Eligible Cards are subject to change. Each Account will only receive one Annual Fee Rebate regardless of the number of accountholders on the Account or Eligible Cards held or opened. The Annual Fee Rebate will be applied to the first annual fee charged on the Eligible Card after the Account Open Date. …

But even if both cards are eligible, how does one qualify for 2 free cards, that's 270.00 a year in annual credit card fees, and Ultimate Chequing package only reimburses 150.00 a year.

All Scene (Scotia) cards are now linked with Shell App. (They used to be linked with Bank of Montreal). I think it is 3c/L less on gas and discounts on other things at Shell. I have been a long-standing customer of Scotia (As well as all the other banks!). I get a free Scotia Passport Visa (no foreign transaction fees, 4 Lounge Passes at the airport, trip insurance, etc), and a free Scotia AmEx Gold card (also no foreign transaction fees, trip insurance, but this card multiplies BETTER for groceries--6X the points at Sobeys, Freshco, 5X the points at all other grocery and restaurants, and Cineplex. The downside: some stores ie. Loblaws/No Frills don't accept AmEx but Shoppers Drug does!!

@hwyc: (1) The missing portion of the 4% was eventually reimbursed to me sometime in the spring of 2024. I had already begun the process of switching to another 4%-for-groceries CC by then, and I promptly cancelled my Meridian CC (and washed my hands of them altogether - I did not have any other Meridian accounts) once I redeemed the missing cash back that was finally provided to me.
(2) Yes, in my experience, there was an annual reset on January 1st. I have not reviewed the latest T&C for that card to see if that has changed.

(1) Was the issue fixed?
(2) There is indeed a reset annually on Jan 1st. Yes?

Here's considering this card for their Travel Emergency Medical insurance for age 65 to 75. Think I could break even the $99 annual fee with the groceries.

Noticed something else.

Membership with Meridian Credit Union is a regulatory requirement to hold a Meridian Visa. You are not required to have other Meridian Credit Union products.

Is this a standard requirement with the credit union credit cards ... across the other provinces?
