Lots of discussion about this on other platforms right now. Nothing in my email about it though from Rogers.

There's mixed and confusing advice. One of the popular "jabs" to Rogers is to overpay your Rogers services account eg. Mobile, TV, Internet by a few thousand dollars. Then go to your Rogers Mastercard account and redeem the rewards for that overpayment now for 3% toward Rogers services.

Another brief discussion centres around FX fees and how Rogers Red remains the best for no fee FX cards even when the change takes place. I don't understand personally. Rogers charges a 2.5% FX currency fee so when "doomsday" arrives, you will pay 0.5% for the FX currency fee charge. There are other options like PC Financial Mastercard debit or EQ Debit Mastercard with no FX fee. Of course, there's Home Trust Visa too.

If I'm understanding correctly about the cash back structure for the World Elite card:

Previously:
* Rogers customers earned 2% back and got an extra 1.5x when redeeming against Rogers purchases, so that's 3% back against Rogers purchases and 2% back on everything else
* Non-Rogers customers got a flat 1.5% back on the World Elite card; 1.0% back on the Red card

If you were a Rogers customer with a $40 monthly bill and spent $1333.33 you would get $40 back if you redeemed against the Rogers charge ($1333.33 * .02 * 1.5)

Now:
* Rogers customers earn 5% back on Rogers purchases and 2% on everything else. No more multiplier when redeeming against Rogers purchases.
* Non-Rogers customers get a flat 1.5% back on the World Elite card; 1.0% back on the Red card

If you are a Rogers customer with a $40 monthly bill and spend $1333.33 (technically $1293.33 on non-Rogers purchases) you would get $27.87 no matter what you redeem it against ($40 * .05 + $1293.33 * .02)

Well that sucks! I was running about $150-200 per month in 1.5 times redemption values. The change to 5% on Rogers accounts and 1% on everything else will almost be certainly less total value.

Edit: Thank you Peter. My error on above as I didn't scroll down far enough for World Elite card and being a Rogers customer.

It will be 5% on my two Rogers/Shall bills and 2% on the remaining (unlikely to ever break the $61k annual spend cap on our joint card). The new arrangement will still be less than current arrangement.

This was inevitable. The nerfing of the some of the travel benefits on top make it a mediocre card. I personally don't find any of this surprising as it was too good to be true.

Keep in mind that the 1% cashback only applies to purchases in CAD. It's an okay card as it's a real no FX credit card and makes a great backup card. If you can get the Wealthsimple card as well, that's a real winner of a card. They are beta testing a no-fee version of the card, no rumors as to when it will be publically available.

Over $100,000 in assets in assets: 1.75% interest

The Wealthsimple card need a $100K in their savings for it to be no-fee. The interest rate 1.75% for the $100K is not that great. Otherwise it is $20 a month, that's $240/year and not doable, the MC World Elite/Visa Infinite card are just $120-$150/year with much more benefits. They are beta testing a no-fee version of the card? If it is 100% no-fee, it is worth considering.

Thank you for the info. Good to know it support alerts, it would have been better if it supports a text notification (assuming no text support, which is a bit backward since most CC do support text notifications except for Tangerine which needs the app to get notifications)
