As an existing customer, I received the 4.5% on my deposit.

Even though my CSR e-mailed me with the offer, I needed to phone/e-mail him accepting the offer. I didn't know this but I left a message with him anyway to say that I had made a deposit into my e-advantage account. He e-mailed back to say he will activate the offer and I would receive interest after a 48 hour period. So I didn't make any interest on those first 48 hours.

He also said that for the next 90 days I would receive the 4.5% on any new deposits i.e. not to worry about the March deadline.

Because I am so wary of them, I deposited another $1100 on 1st of April and will wait until end of Month to see if I indeed do receive that interest. I have a substantial amount of funds currently in Tangerine @3.75% until end of April. We'll see what CIBC does at that time with the extra $1100 before I transfer in the Tangerine funds.

Raining here. Hope everyone has a lovely Easter Weekend!!

Targeted offer I think

*For new funds deposited into existing eAdvantage Savings Accounts with balances above $100,000 on or before Mar‍ch 2‍7, 2026, earn a total interest rate of 4.80% (which is made up of the 0.60% posted interest rate plus a 4.20% bonus interest rate) for 90 days following the date of deposit. For new funds deposited into existing eAdvantage Savings Accounts with balances equal to or below $100,000 on or before March 27, 2026, earn a total interest rate of 4.50% (which is made up of the 0.30% posted interest rate plus a 4.20% bonus interest rate) for 90 days following the date of deposit. Interest is calculated daily on each day’s full closing balance and paid monthly to the eAdvantage Savings Account. For deposits received after Mar‍ch 2‍7, 2026, only regular interest will continue to apply.

Is this generally the case for all/other offer recipients that the bonus interest rate only applies for funds deposited on or before March 27, 2026?

I know what you mean. Pretty confusing. According to my advisor, I will be earning a total of 4.6% for the 90 days. But now when I look up my e-savings it says
" you are now eligible for smart account interest which doesn't remotely seem like the same thing. Anybody else dealing with this?

So I had some extra funds and deposited them via cheque directly into my CIBC e-advantage acc't on Saturday. Went to the teller to see if the bonus interest was attached to that account. She said it wasn't. So when I got home I e-mailed my CSR to ask if I would be receiving this interest. He got back that he will put in the request to give me the 4.5% (i.e. 4.2% plus .3% posted interest) and that it would take 48 hours approx to show in account. Apparently, even though I got the targeted offer from him, I would have to get back to him and "accept" the offer. There was no "accept offer button" on the initial e-mail. I messaged back to clarify the deposit on Saturday would receive the offer and not just any funds deposited after the 48 hours. Also, don't think if you deposit into chequing account then transfer to e-advantage account that the special offer would apply. Currently any transfers from say my Tangerine, Oaken, Wealth one etc into CIBC are set up to be deposited into CIBC chequing.

Do you know if the 4.80% is "across the board" or only the top rate on the top level of the deposit (tiered structure a.k.a. graduated rate)?

Do they show the actual rate when you log into your account? For instance, Manulife does it, RBC does not do it.
