Earn up to a $2,500 cash bonus (“Total Cash Bonus”) when you deposit New Money (defined below) between June 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026 (“Funding Period”).

To qualify for the Cash Bonus you must:

Deposit a minimum of $5,000 New Money into a Qualifying Savings Account by June 30, 2026; (“Qualifying Deposit”)
Maintain your Qualifying Deposits from June 30, 2026 until September 30, 2026
Earn a Cash bonus based on the New Money amounts deposited into the BMO Savings Amplifier Account as defined below,

Cash Bonus of $100 for depositing $5,000.00 to $9,999.99
Cash Bonus of $200 for depositing $10,000.00 to $24,999.99
Cash Bonus of $300 for depositing $25,000.00 to $49,999.99
Cash Bonus of $600 for depositing $50,000.00 to $99,999.99
Cash Bonus of $1,500 for depositing $100,000.00 to $199,999.99
Cash Bonus of $2,500 for depositing $200,000.00 or more
The Total Cash Bonus will be deposited to the Qualifying Savings Account within 60 days after all required conditions above have been met, and the Qualifying Savings Account is still open and in good standing.

How we calculate New Money in your Account:

To determine if a deposit qualifies as New Money and eligible for the Cash Bonus we will:

combine all balances in your Canadian dollar BMO Smart Saver Account(s), BMO Savings Amplifier Accounts, BMO Savings Builder Account(s), BMO CAD Premium Rate Savings Account(s) as of May 31, 2026 (the “Savings Balance”) that are solely in your own name and/or jointly owned where you are the primary account holder and
combine all balances in your BMO Savings Amplifier Accounts as of May 31, 2026 (the “Account Balance”) that are solely in your own name; and/or jointly owned where you are the primary account holder then
at the end of the Funding Period, we verify if your overall Savings Balance has increased, and your Account Balance has increased. Cash Bonus Reward will be based on your Qualifying Deposit by which your Savings Balance or Account Balance increased, whichever is lower.
Here is an example:

If you have $50,000 in your Savings Balance and of that $50,000, you have $10,000 in your BMO Savings Amplifier Account (“your Account(s)”) and you withdraw $5,000 from one of your other savings accounts and you deposit $4,000 into your Account, your total deposits have not increased ($50,000 - $5,000 + $4,000 = $49,000) so although the balance increased in your Account, the cash bonus would not apply.

If you have $50,000 in your Savings Balance at the start of the promotion and deposit an additional $5,000 into your Account during the specified funding period, your total deposits have increased ($50,000+ 5,000=$55,000) by $5,000. If you maintain the total balance of $55,000 throughout the promotional period until the end of the offer period, you will qualify for a $100 cash bonus.

If you have $50,000 in your Savings Balance at the start of the promotion and deposit $5,000 into your account by the specified funding period, your total deposits will increase to $55,000. However, if you withdraw $1,000 from one of your savings accounts, your total deposits will decrease to $54,000. Since this falls below the minimum threshold of a $5,000 net increase, you would no longer qualify for the $100 cash bonus.

If you have $50,000 in your Savings Balance at the start of the promotion and deposit an additional $5,000 into your Account during the specified funding period, your total deposits have increased ($50,000+$5,000=$55,000) by $5,000. If you deposit an additional $5,000 ($50,000 + $5,000+$5,000= $60,000) after the specified funding period has ended and maintain the total balance of $60,000, you will qualify for a $100 cash bonus based on the new money added during the specified funding period ($5,000). The additional $5,000 deposit after the funding period will not apply.

General:

This offer is not transferable and available only to the customer who has been presented the offer. This is a personalized Offer, and the Total Cash Bonus may not be the same for each customer who receives an Offer. A limit of one offer per customer is available. Joint account or multiple account ownership is permitted, but only if the lead account holder is eligible to accept the Total Cash Bonus. Clients of BMO Private Banking are not eligible. We may change the Offer and Terms and Conditions at any time without notice. Customers who have accepted the offer will be provided advance notice if the Offer is withdrawn prior to the Offer Period end date. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend, disqualify, limit, or revoke the Offer to any account holder found to have manipulated or abused the Offer, its fairness, integrity, or operation. To the extent that these Terms and Conditions are inconsistent with any other communication, advertisement or statement from the Bank, these Terms and Conditions will supersede all other messages.

I got invited to the promo with an email from BMO. I went to the same branch I used to use heavily in the past while running a business, since 1991. Now only CPP, OAS, property tax, hydro,...etc. The half-a-year at this job branch manager said to me: "you do not qualify". I went to a newly opened nearby branch and on the same day, an hour later, I did qualify. Moral of the story - try different branch, whatever the problem seems to be. Maybe a newly opened one.

BMO appears to have two different savings accounts promos.

One is for anyone who opens a new chequing account and Amplifier savings account, with defined terms and conditions.
https://www.bmo.com/en-ca/main.....motions-1/

Another promo is targeted to existing clients. Open an Amplifier savings account by Sept. 30, 2025 and earn 4.60% p.a. until Dec. 31, 2025. This offer might be shown when a client logs in to their account, but it seems that some clients find out about this targeted offer only when they phone in.

One of the issues with Online Banking at TD and BMO, is that there is no evidence of the interest rate on the account. One has to go to their rates page separately to view current standard rates.

And in the case of the current BMO offers, no evidence that the promo rate is actually in effect.

And! BMO no longer have online messaging to ask questions to a real someone. They now have a useless AI thingy called BMO Assist. If you frustrate it enough, it asks if you want to Chat. Oops no chat yet but you can pick up the phone or drop by a branch.
