I got invited to the promo with an email from BMO. I went to the same branch I used to use heavily in the past while running a business, since 1991. Now only CPP, OAS, property tax, hydro,...etc. The half-a-year at this job branch manager said to me: "you do not qualify". I went to a newly opened nearby branch and on the same day, an hour later, I did qualify. Moral of the story - try different branch, whatever the problem seems to be. Maybe a newly opened one.

For the targeted offer to an existing client, do that client already has an existing Amplifier account? In other words, opening a 2nd Amplifier is eligible.

BMO appears to have two different savings accounts promos.

One is for anyone who opens a new chequing account and Amplifier savings account, with defined terms and conditions.

Another promo is targeted to existing clients. Open an Amplifier savings account by Sept. 30, 2025 and earn 4.60% p.a. until Dec. 31, 2025. This offer might be shown when a client logs in to their account, but it seems that some clients find out about this targeted offer only when they phone in.

Just to be sure I always save the email of the offer.

I do have the email saved but still would be appropriate to see in the account's details as the Tangerine system does.

Our account was mostly empty due to much much better rates elsewhere so that anything in there now is new to BMO ...

I agree, more clarity is always better.

One of the issues with Online Banking at TD and BMO, is that there is no evidence of the interest rate on the account. One has to go to their rates page separately to view current standard rates.

And in the case of the current BMO offers, no evidence that the promo rate is actually in effect.

And! BMO no longer have online messaging to ask questions to a real someone. They now have a useless AI thingy called BMO Assist. If you frustrate it enough, it asks if you want to Chat. Oops no chat yet but you can pick up the phone or drop by a branch.

I did not receive offer via email, but after I logged to BMO app I saw it there. Mine is with 4.75% promo rate, till August 31st.

Just got a new targeted offer from BMO by email. 4.25% till August 31th if I open a Amplifier account.

No other conditions. I believe you have to already be a BMO client.
