There are better and more recent explanations on Finiki and Canadian Couch Potato, with caveats and pitfalls on what NOT to do. Further, certain platforms such as at BMOIL and RBCDI dont require journaling of shares first to complete the transaction.

P.S. I think a glossary of terms are helpful, albeit Googling always remains a viable option.
