Hi.

Just a heads up for those thinking of opening one of their new e-Savings account.

I filled up the online form on November the 6th, mailed my check on November the 7th before 9AM.

My check cleared on November the 22nd.

Since then, NOTHING.

I phoned them on December the 5th. I was told they were really busy and to expect my login information, sent by mail, shortly. Well, that was one week ago.

They seem to be really nice but, come on! 5 weeks and counting to open a simple Savings account? It simply is not serious. I'm seriously reconsidering if I want something to do with this bank.

Keep us posted. I was planning on closing one of my Winnipeg CU accounts and moving to Peoples...but slow start is not a vote of confidence.

The process took a couple of weeks for me.

Linked two external accounts within a day of giving them notice.

Also asked about visibility on TFSA. Said they're processing the savings accounts first and will add TFSA and RRSP accounts at a later date.

Fantastic customer service!!

I was planning on starting an e-Savings with Peoples Trust as well but have not done it yet. I have the old Peoples Trust Savings account still and I got my paper statement in the mail today for November and there's a note on it for me which says if I stay with this account they are going to drop my rate from 1.90% to 1.40% effective Feb 1, 2013. Just a heads up with anybody who was thinking of staying with the old way (paper statement vs online banking) that the rate will drop February. I assume they are keeping the rate at 1.90% for the online e-Savings account though.sf-surprised

I'm here because I saw the same note on my statement and am wondering if anyone can confirm that the e-savings account is planned to remain at 1.90% or will those be dropping too?

I looked up the PT website and saw a "switch my accounts" form. It says that if you switch, you can no longer write cheques. I'm not sure I like that since I ordered cheques, just to connect the account to another bank! Anyway, now I'm also wondering: Can you open another e-savings account, and keep the Savings account open? I'm guessing they wouldn't let you do this if the point of the lower rate is to encourage people to get rid of these older accounts???

Edit: There is an option to "purchase a new deposit" where you can select an e-savings account. Has anyone tried opening a new account while keeping the old?

I do not have an account with Peoples but am thinking to do so for the 3% TFSA account. So tell me, with an Eaccount, how do you withdraw your money and make a deposit? What options are there? And can you actually bank at their downtown Vancouver location?

Yes, the rate only drops for the "paper account". The e-savings stays 1.9% - just talked to customer service.

It will be 7 weeks Tuesday since I filled the online form to open a new account and still nothing from Peoples Trust. It's now a month since the check I mailed them was cleared.

No statement, no login information, no email, no mail. Wow...

Contact them (phone or email). Last year I waited around for a request that had fallen through the cracks, but after I got in touch with them they were quite helpful.

Hi.

Still no news...

I did contact them twice. First time on December 5th (was told that everything is in the mail) and again on the December 24th (was told I would be mailed "a new card").

Man... good rates but so far, I'm really not impressed with the experience. I'd like to move money their way but they sure don't make me feel that confident about them.

I signed up online for a new TFSA account with People's Trust (as a new, never-before customer) on Sunday Dec.30, mailed my cheque on Dec. 31, the cheque cleared on Jan. 15, and today on Jan. 18 I received my login info in the snail mail, and the online access is now activated and appears fully functional.

malquin, any luck yet?
