In my experience, you really only need someone's e-mail address. The other information I usually just make up, since 1) A referrer really shouldn't need to know such personal details and 2) When a referree applies for an account, he or she has to enter all of the information anew anyway.

Oh well it makes sense when you see it this way.
I though the bank wanted to confirm if you really knew the person you were referring to make sure there is no abuse. Because, obviously, anyone who move over to a bank should have the good sens to type the bank's name on google and fall on a website like this where you can get referral link and get your 20$ bonus. Wait, have I done that?
Oh and about referral for people who live in Québec, look what they answered to me via e-mail when I clearly asked them if Quebec residents were eligible:
"Dear Customer,
Once the account is activated referral bonus will be credited to the account.
Sincerely,
K K Veni
Customer Service Officer
ICICI Bank Canada."

Very cool! This completely contradicts what is says on their website, so maybe I should e-mail ICICI asking them to fix that text.

Maybe you should or maybe not.
Maybe they will suddently remember their policy about referral bonus and they won't hand out green bills to you and me.
According to their policy, if I'm from Québec and thus, non eligible if I used your referral link to subscribe than will you get the 20$?

One of the lousiest bank that I have ever visited in my life. No customer service, untrained and unqualified staff, roti and curry smelling branch, and more dissapointing, contact centre is based in India, which has no clue of how to satisfy westerners.
