Hi, I wanted to subscribe to HSBC when a fring of mine told me this summer that their rate were of 4.50%. Of course, my friend referred me to ING first to get his 13$ bonus 
However, after he told me about HSBC, I got really interested and checked on google about any special bonus and faell on this: http://www.mymoneyblog.com/archives/2005/11/hsbc_direct_25.html
It was a 25$ bonus for opening an account with them however this is from 2005. Do you know if they would recidive with an offer similar sometime this year or with the interests lowering down some promotions alike won't happen again.
Sincerly, with a rate of 3.75%, I'm no more interested in opening an account with them althought if they throw a 25$ into it, my mind might change because of their ATM accessibility with the RBC network. ING Direct is fine however they do not offer any access to debit card withdrawal while HSBC uses RBC ones.
Any thoughts about an upcoming promotion?

FYI, that blog was referring to HSBC Bank USA, N.A.
HSBC Bank Canada did have a $50 promotion back in May 2007 when they first offered the new account. Too bad I registered a month or two earlier for the $25 promotion.
It seems like both the US and Canadian HSBC bank offered the bonus when they first launched their HSBC Direct account. I have no idea if they will offer the bonus in the future.
If you want a 5.5%* promotional interest rate for the first 90days on your account, take a look at Canadian Tire Financial Services.
* 1.5% bonus interest rate in addition to the regular rate (currently 4%)

The Current HSBC promotion (Race With HSBC) is a 4.0% interest rate for your first 2 months. Not much, but better than nothing. To get the bonus you need to enter the promo code "Run2" on the online account application form.

It was true that HSBC did offer $50. The account had to be opened for six months and the credit was posted on the 7th.
HSBC is connected with BMO and the Exchange ATM group. HSBC deposits and withdrawals can be performed at HSBC, BMO, NBC, Participating Credit Unions and Canadian Tire Bank ATM's (currently in Edmonton, Calgary, Kitchener-Waterloo and London-St. Thomas).
