I am moving to my new appt next week-end and I have to call HSBC, ICICI and ING to change my address. However, I am not interested anymore in have a HSBC and ICICI account since I have all my GICs at ING and the 0.80% interestes offered is ridiculous. I want time of the statements I am receiving and I don't want to leave empty account opened indefinately.

Do I just have to call them and tell them to close all my account and destroy all my financial records in their files, is there any fee HSBC or ICICI will charge me for closing all my accounts? I have been a customer for more than 2 years now.

My mattress is far more comfy with all my money under it.

hi Max,

Even though you hold a Direct Savings Account with the Direct Bank branch of HSBC Bank Canada (transit: 10850), you can still go into any HSBC Bank Canada branch and close out your account, bankcard, Internet Banking profile and related accounts. You may be asked to provide a second piece of identification such as a driver's license or provincial ID as verification of your identity. As long as you've had the account open for at least 90-120 days, there is no fee to close an account. Upon closure of all your accounts and related services, you will no longer receive correspondence from HSBC Bank Canada; however, you should note that your information does remain in the bank's records to satisfy their own retention schedule and for meeting legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Hope this helps,
Doug
