It actually goes down to 3.85% now. Yet still a promo 5.5% for the first three months. I have applied the account but I am still a bit concerned about the security of CTFS. Anyone helps?!

i opened my account with canadian tire last year and so far i never had any problem. i was lucky to get an extended 5.5% for another month because that time, they also offered it to existing clients. they are also pretty fast in transferring out the money to other institution. too bad, they lower the interest rate effective february so i have to take my money out now.

how long does it usually take to get an account setup and activated? I already filled in a form online and mailed a cheque and haven't heard from them for like a week now. I only say this because ING direct only took me 4 days to have a useable account up and running.

you wouldn't happen to know when I am entitled with that promo of 5.50% for 3 months do u? Am i already entitled that promo because I signed up before the deadline? or when I am full setup and activated is when they consider me applicable to the promo?

According to CPF's website, your initial deposit cheque has to be cashed no later than February 29 in order for you to take advantage of the 5.5% rate. Presumably if your account has already been opened and your cheque has been cashed then you're good to go.

i deposited my cheque about a week ago. I presume it should be cashed in before the 29th deadline by then. I hope =S
